WACO, Texas (Jan. 28, 2015) – Baylor University’s Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics & Engineering Research (CASPER) will welcome several distinguished guest speakers as part of its spring seminar series.
Truell Hyde, Ph.D., Baylor Vice Provost for Research, professor of physics and director of CASPER, said the speakers were selected because of their research expertise.
“The purpose of the CASPER seminar series is to bring outstanding speakers to our campus so they can interact with our students and faculty,” he said. “The speakers have expertise in one of the six different research areas within CASPER.”
All lectures will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Baylor Sciences Building Room C.206 and are free to the public.
The lecture schedule is as follows.
Jan. 30 – Patrick Rodi, Ph.D., Lockheed Martin Fellow and Aerosciences Lead for the Orion program: “Orion: America’s Deep Space Human Exploration Spacecraft”
Feb. 6 – Nans Kunz, NASA Ames Research Center
April 10 – Olufisayo Jejelowo, Ph.D., Texas Southern University
April 17 – David Black, Ph.D., SETI Institute
April 24 – Michael Devin, Ph.D., Baylor alumnus
May 1 – Olufisayo Jejelowo, Ph.D, Texas Southern University and Rene Laufer, Ph.D., associate research professor and head of the space science lab at Baylor University
