Baylor University Professor Receives Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award

WACO, Texas (Jan. 21, 2015) -Roger Kirk, Ph.D., Baylor University Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience, has been named the recipient of the Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Kirk received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He has been teaching at Baylor University since 1958.
“I feel very honored to have received the award,” said Kirk, who is a fellow of the APA, the largest professional psychology organization in the United States.
When awarding the Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award, the APA seeks candidates who demonstrate teaching influence, develop innovative curricula and produce significant research.
“Dr. Kirk is tireless in working with students,” said Charles Weaver, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts & Sciences at Baylor University, in his nomination letter for Kirk. “Students enter his class with utmost respect for his accomplishments, but they leave with a genuine affection for him as well.”
The Charles L. Brewer Distinguished Teaching of Psychology Award is the highest teaching award given by the American Psychological Association.
