WACO, Texas (Oct. 10, 2014) – James Riordan, Ph.D., has spent more than three decades in development and policy reformation, and he will share his wisdom on the subject at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in Cashion Academic Center, Room 103.
Baylor Free Enterprise at the Baugh Center, which seeks to aid in the preservation of the competitive free enterprise system, is hosting the event.
“It’s important to discuss with students how to develop business opportunities and how to implement beneficial strategies for creating more jobs,” said Steve Bradley, Ph.D., assistant professor of management and entrepreneurship in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business.
Bradley said business and social work students would especially enjoy the lecture.
As the former project director for the USAID’s Poverty Reduction and Alleviation Program in Peru, Riordan implemented an innovative approach to generate jobs for the poor, which received the prestigious Creatividad Empresarial award.
In 2011, he published “We Do Know How: A Buyer-Led Approach to Creating Jobs for the Poor,” in which he presents a proven approach for expanding business sales and generating jobs for poor people.
Riordan has lived in Colombia, Peru, Egypt and Albania and has worked in 59 countries. He has a doctorate in economics and a Master of Arts in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Fordham University.
