WACO, Texas (Sept. 24, 2014) – For the second year in a row, The Heart of Texas Airshow will take flight over Waco. The aviation spectacular is scheduled to take place Saturday, Sept. 27 at Texas State Technical College airport, 3801 Campus Drive, Waco, TX 76708.
Baylor Institute for Air Science joins groups such as USAA, KCEN-TV, Outback Steakhouse and the US Army in sponsoring the show.
“This is an opportunity to help bring the excitement and fun of aviation to the central Texas community,” said William B. “Trey” Cade, Ph.D., director of Baylor Institute for Air Science.
Sponsorship of the event also poses an opportunity to bring healthy exposure to the Baylor Institute for Air Science program. Currently the program consists of more than 60 students interested in going into different components of the industry ranging from piloting to air traffic control.
As a sponsor, Baylor Institute for Air Science provides both monetary support and a booth. The booth will offer activities for kids such as personalized gliders and books on airplanes in addition to personnel available to answer questions related to aviation and Baylor’s program.
“Sponsorship is invaluable to an event. It enables the event to grow in every way,” said Heart of Texas Airshow President Debby Standefer. “Airshows have a tremendous impact on the public, the sponsors and the economy with the ability to reach all demographics and cross all lifestyles.”
Major General Wisian, deputy adjutant general-air for Texas and commander of the Texas Air National Guard, will serve as the Air Show Marshal for this year’s event.
The airshow was designed as a way to not only provide an entertaining airshow but also honor members of the military. Along with food vendors, ground exhibits and family-friendly games, the show will feature honor guards, fly-bys and sky-divers.
Attendees will even have the opportunity to fly. Helicopter, airplane and historic war bird flights will be available to the public throughout the day. Gates will open at 10 a.m. and the airshow will officially begin at 2 p.m.
