Religion Graduate Students Receive Eddie L. Dwyer Scholarships

Four graduate students from Baylor's Department of Religion Department have been awarded Eddie L. Dwyer Endowed Scholarships. The Dwyer scholarship fund is designed to assist graduate students in religion.
The students who received scholarships which range from $269 to $1,076 each are Christopher M. Caldwell, J. Norfleete Day, Stanley D. Harstine and Gary C. Martindale.
Caldwell received a bachelor's degree in 1987 from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. and a master of divinity degree in 1991 from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. Caldwell is currently the pastor of the Chalk Bluff Baptist Church and is pursuing a doctorate in religion. Caldwell is from Waco.
Day received a bachelor's degree in 1967 from Samford University. She earned a master of library science degree in 1975 from the the University of Alabama and a master of divinity from Beeson Divinity School. She is pursuing a doctorate in religion and is an instructor at Beeson Divinity School. Day is the daughter of Herschel H. Day and the late Louise S. Day of Wilton, Ala.
Harstine is a licensed minister. He received a bachelor's degree in 1982 from Kansas State University and a master of divinity degree in 1980 from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Harstine is pursuing a doctorate in religion. Harstine is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Harstine of El Dorado, Kan.
Martindale is an ordained minister. He received a bachelor's degree in 1974 from Southwestern Assemblies of God and bachelor's degree from the University of Texas. Martindale earned a master's degree in 1990 from St. Mary's University in San Antonio. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in religion. Martindale is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Carl Martindale of Austin.
