Baylor Honors 8 Outstanding Students

Baylor University recently honored eight outstanding students from each school on campus during the Baylor Council for Institutional Development meeting.
The names of the honorees are Mari Rebane, College of Arts and Sciences; Stephanie A. Dale, Hankamer School of Business; Nathan G. Wade, School of Education; Wesley Rex Wolf, School of Engineering and Computer Sciences; Craig Anthony McNeil, School of Law; Sharon Elizabeth Marshall, School of Music; Sharon Kay Auld, School of Nursing; and James Russell Branch of the Graduate School.
Rebane of the College of Arts and Sciences graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 20 in Tallinn, Estonia. Rebane maintains a 4.0 grade-point average and has received the Special Presidential Scholarship. She is a member of the Baylor Honors Program and of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a national premedical honor and service society. She has received the Wendlandt Award and was nominated for Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities in 1996. Rebane has volunteered in the Wichita Family Health Care Center as a lab assistant to gain experience toward her career goal of becoming a medical doctor.
Stephanie Dale of the Hankamer School of Business graduated eighth in her class at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kan., and attended Johnson Community College in Overland Park, Kan., where she maintained a 4.0 grade-point average. A senior at Baylor, she has received a 3.8 grade-point average and has received many scholarships including the William Geldemeir Accounting Scholarship, the Carroll Webb Accounting Scholarship, the Curt and Donna Floyd Academic Scholarship and the McBride Academic Scholarship. Dale has been involved with the Best of America Program with Golden Key National Honor Society, in the Business Excellence Scholarship Team (BEST) and the Institute of Management Accountants. She has worked for IBM as a Large Systems Marketing Intern, in the Casey Computer Center as a lab assistant and has volunteered in several charitable organizations. After graduation, Dale hopes to be certified as a public accountant and work for a Big Six accounting firm.
Nathan Wade of the School of Education graduated from Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, Okla., with a cumulative grade-point average of 4.17 on a 4.0 scale. Wade earned the maximum score of five on two Advanced Placement Exams in American History and Latin. He took honors classes in the history, Latin and mathematics departments in high school. A senior at Baylor, he has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average and received the Baylor Presidential Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship from Oklahoma. Wade represented Baylor in the USA Today All Academic Team competition in 1995. He is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Eta Sigma Phi, a classical languages honor society. Wade has volunteered in several charitable organizations and after graduation hopes to teach Latin and history on the high school level in Central Texas or Tulsa.
Wesley Rex Wolf of the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences graduated from Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas. A senior, he maintains a 3.93 grade-point average at Baylor and has been on the Dean's List since spring 1994. He has earned a National Merit Scholarship and the Houston Electric League Scholarship and is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. After graduation, Wolf intends to pursue a master's degree and possibly a doctorate before working in industry.
Craig Anthony McNeil of the School of Law was educated in public schools in Italy; Spokane, Wash.; Victorville, Calif.; and Texas. McNeil earned an associate in arts degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve while attending college at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., on an Army ROTC scholarship. Retired Air Force Reserve Maj. Gen. Barry Goldwater administered McNeil the oath of office and McNeil has served for more than eight years in the Texas Army National Guard as an officer. He earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from Texas Chrisitan University and graduated from both the U.S. Army Armor School's Officer's Basic and Advanced Courses and the Abrams Tank Commander's Course. McNeil attended basic courses while serving with the Texas Joint Counterdrug Task Force. He returned to college in 1994 to complete his undergraduate degree and gain admission to law school. This summer he did a clerkship, studied at the London Law Center of the University of Notre Dame and studied international law while traveling in Europe.
Sharon Elizabeth Marshall of the School of Music graduated as Salutatorian from R.L. Turner High School and currently maintains a 4.0 grade-point average at Baylor. Marshall has been on the Dean's List and has received the Baylor Presidential Scholarship, the Glennis McCrary Goodrich Music Scholarship, the Edwards Music Scholarship and the Women's Council of Dallas Scholarship. She has attended the Texas Music Festival, the John Mack Oboe Camp and the
Boston Tanglewood Oboe Workshop. She is a member of Mortar Board, Golden Key National Honor Society and Student Foundation, among others. Marshall is involved in Baylor Symphonic Band, Baylor Chamber Music, Baylor Wind Ensemble and Baylor Symphony Orchestra. After graduating, she plans to pursue a master's degree in Music Therapy and have a career in performance and music therapy.
Sharon Auld of the School of Nursing transferred to Baylor from a California community college and has since maintained a 3.6 grade-point average at Baylor. She has received the James S. Kemper Foundation Scholarship and the Virginia Smith Wilks Scholarship and has been on the Dean's list. Auld was elected to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and was a member of National Student Nurses Association. She has volunteered at a church and clinic and currently works as a nursing assistant at BUMC on the surgical/trauma floor. After graduating, Auld plans to start her career and family in California.
James Branch of the Graduate School graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tarleton State University in 1993 and completed his master's degree in biology from Baylor in 1996 with a 3.68 grade-point average. He is now working on his doctoral degree in biology at Baylor. Branch is listed in the 1995 Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Branch was president of both the Sigma Gamma Epsilon (Earth Science Honor Society) and the Biophilia Biological Society and has been involved with the Texas Academy of Science, among other organizations. He has been a teaching assistant and research assistant in the Baylor biology department and property manager at Baylor Eastland Lake Camp. After earning his doctorate, Branch plans to teach biology at a Texas university.
