President Sloan to Speak in Chapel-Forum Nov. 4

Baylor University President Robert B. Sloan Jr. will speak during Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov.4, in Waco Hall. He will conduct a question-and-answer session with students.
Sloan earned a bachelor of arts degree from Baylor in 1970 and a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973. He conducted post-baccalaureate research at the University of Bristol, England, from 1973-74 and earned a Doktor der Theologie degree from the University of Basel, Switzerland, in 1978.
Sloan joined the faculty of Baylor's Department of Religion in 1983 after holding teaching positions at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Hardin-Simmons University. In 1990 he became the first holder of The George W. Truett Chair in Evangelism, and in 1993 he was appointed the founding dean of Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
Sloan has held positions as pastor or interim pastor at more than 20 churches in Texas, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and in Germany. From 1991-92 he was president of the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies. He is a member of several organizations, authored two books and more than 50 articles and chapters in books, and has been active in the Lorena, Texas community.
He and his wife, Sue, have seven children: Charissa, Bryan, Eraina, Michael, Alathea, Sophia, and Paul. The oldest three are students at Baylor.
