WACO, Texas (Jan. 21, 2014) - Free Enterprise at the John F. Baugh Center in Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business will host Adam Kissel, former vice president for programs for the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), as he presents his topic, "Free Speech and Double Standards in Higher Education" Wednesday, Jan. 22.
FIRE's core mission is to protect the unprotected and to educate the public and communities of concerned Americans about the threats to these rights on our campuses and about the means to preserve them. For example, FIRE's recent cases include a University of Central Florida professor who was suspended for an in-class joke and a University of Kansas professor whose anti-NRA tweet resulted in his suspension.
During his time at FIRE, Kissel worked to uphold this mission to defend and sustain individual rights at America's colleges and universities, presenting on individual rights at college campuses across the country.
One of the goals of this event, and of Free Enterprise, is to "heighten the awareness for students and faculty that America is not the beaming light it used to be when it comes to free enterprise," said Amy Fields, project manager for Free Enterprise.
Free Enterprise at the John F. Baugh Center seeks to aid in the preservation of the competitive free enterprise system, including the vital small business sector of the economy.
Kissel's lecture will be held at 4 p.m. in Room 337 of Draper Academic Building, 1420 S. Seventh St. For more information, visit the Free Enterprise webpage or the Facebook event page.
