Baylor University's Institute for Family Business will present a seminar on "Strategic Planning-Defining the Mission," the ninth program in its 1996 Waco Family Business Seminar Series, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Harrington House Faculty Dining Center on South Eighth Street.
The seminar will run from 7:30-9 a.m. and will be led by Dr. Kendall W. Artz, assistant professor of management in Baylor's Hankamer School of Business.
Bob Hughes, program director of the Institute for Family Business, said Artz will discuss the strategic planning process and how it can help a firm successfully compete in the future. "Strategic planning is key to helping managers anticipate change, formulate responses and thereby improve performance."
Hughes added, "Having a good strategic plan can literally be the difference between success and failure for a business. In today's competitive marketplace, no company can hope to grow and prosper and survive for future generations without proper planning."
The 1996 Waco Family Business Seminar Series was planned by the Institute for Family Business specifically for family-owned firms in the Waco area. The Institute for Family Business is a nationally-recognized organization that provides educational programs for family-owned businesses throughout the state.
Hughes said the general theme of all the institute's programs is helping family-owned businesses achieve "healthy, sustainable growth."
