WACO, Texas (March 28, 2013)-- As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seized a nation, terrorized a continent and attempted to exterminate the entire Jewish population of Europe, Dietrich Bonhoeffer sought to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside.
Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion welcomes New York Times-bestselling author Eric Metaxas to discuss his award-winning book, "Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy." Metaxas, in an effort to illuminate the character of Bonhoeffer, tells the story of the theologian and spy, drawing a searing picture of a man with incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the Paul W. Powell Chapel of Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary, 1100 S. Third St.
Metaxas' book was recently named the "Book of the Year" by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), won the 2011 John C. Pollock Award for Biography awarded by Beeson Divinity School and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, The New Republic, Harper's Magazine, Kirkus Review, NPR, Fox News, C-SPAN's Book TV and more.
Currently, Metaxas serves as the voice of BreakPoint, a radio commentary (www.breakpoint.org) that is broadcast on 1,400 radio outlets with an audience of more than eight million.
Past publications include the biography "Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery." Published by HarperOne, Metaxas' biography served as the official companion book to the feature film "Amazing Grace."
