WACO, Texas (Mar. 22, 2013) -The musical melody of more than 22 tons of bronze bells will infuse campus in celebration of Lent and Holy Week.
Baylor University carillonneur Lynnette Geary will perform a sacred recital at 5 p.m. Friday, March 22, on Baylor's McLane Carillon in Pat Neff Hall Tower.
Geary will open the program with the "Doxology," as arranged for carillon by Geary's late predecessor, Herbert Colvin. Next she will play Milford H. Myhre's "Prelude on 'The King's Majesty'," followed by "A Somber Pavan" by Ronald Barnes and Beverly Buchanan's setting of the anonymous hymn tune "Lord, Who Throughout These Forty Days."
Her program will close with two arrangements by Beverly Buchanan: Johann Crüger's "Ah, Holy Jesus" and then Edward Miller's "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross."
The recital is free and open to the public. Weather permitting, guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to Founders Mall in front of Pat Neff Hall. Printed programs will be distributed just prior to the performance.
