WACO, Texas (Oct. 23, 2012) -"No teacher should strive to make others think as he thinks, but to lead them to the living Truth, to the Master himself, of whom alone they can learn anything, who will make them in themselves know what is true by the very seeing of it." -George MacDonald
These are words that have driven Rishi Sriram, Ph.D., assistant professor and program coordinator of higher education and student affairs at Baylor, to be appointed as Director of Research for the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUPSA).
TACUPSA is an association of administrators, staff, students and all others interested in the professional administration of student affairs programs in higher education. The association is dedicated to the development of the student affairs profession in the state of Texas. Its membership represents more than 500 individuals of more than 70 institutions.
"TACUSPA is a professional association almost as old as the student affairs profession itself, and I am honored to serve as Director of Research. In this role, I hope to encourage student affairs practitioners in Texas to be scholar practitioners, incorporating theory and research into their work for student development and success. One way we will do that is to launch a new journal that is aimed at helping professionals understand how scholarship can lead to better practice," Sriram said.
Some of Sriram's research interests include student affairs practice and collaboration between academic and student affairs. He graduated from Baylor with a bachelor's degree in English, a master's in higher education and student affairs and received his doctorate in higher education from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.
Sriram has written articles on academic and student affairs published by US News & World Report, Journal of College & University Student Housing and TACUPSA.
