Glatter Accepts Athletic Post at Utep

August 29, 1996

WACO, Texas - Sue Glatter, director of compliance at Baylor University, has resigned to become associate athletic director and senior woman's administrator at the University of Texas-El Paso. She will begin her duties at UTEP Oct. 1.
Glatter joined the Baylor athletic department in 1995 as director of compliance after spending six years at the NCAA as an eligibility representative.
At UTEP, a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Glatter will coordinate compliance and women's sports. She will report to athletic director John Thompson.
"Sue has made an excellent contribution to Baylor athletics and to the university," said Tom Stanton, director of athletics at Baylor. "We are sad to see her leave, but this is a great opportunity at UTEP to further her career."
Glatter, a 1985 graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in communication studies, received her law degree from the University of Kansas in 1989. At Baylor, Glatter supervised Baylor's NCAA rules education and interpretations program and she coordinated communication between the faculty, alumni, supporters and the athletic department in compliance matters. Glatter also played an important part in the University's recent NCAA certification program.
"My time at Baylor has been a wonderful experience for me," Glatter says.
"I want to say publicly that Baylor is blessed to have so many wonderful athletes and an outstanding coaching staff. It's been a privilege to work with them, particularly the football coaches.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity Baylor gave me here," she added. "The position I'm taking at UTEP could not have happened without my experience at Baylor. I would also like to thank David Guinn (faculty athletic representative at Baylor). He is one of the most ethical and brilliant people I've ever met, and he's been a tremendous help to me."
"Sue Glatter came on board at a time of transition and change in regard to the athletic department and our administration," said Guinn. "She has done an outstanding job in the area of compliance. We deeply appreciate the contribution she has made to the athletic department, and we wish her well in all of her future endeavors."
