Dr. Merold Westphal Lectures in Philosophy and Religion Colloquium Series

WACO, Texas (Sept. 28, 2012) - Baylor welcomes Merold Westphal, Ph.D., to the Fall Philosophy and Religion Colloquium Series.

The series is made possible by the generosity of Baylor graduate, Dr. B.R. Eubanks.
"Since the series' inception in 2009, Dr. Eubanks' generosity has allowed our department to host some of the brightest minds working in the philosophy of religion--a field that holds a special degree of interest and importance here at Baylor. By bringing world leaders in this field of research to campus, the series has been a great gift to our undergraduates, graduate students and friends across the campus," said Todd Buras, Ph.D., undergraduate program director and faculty master of the Honors Residential College and associate professor in the department of philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Westphal will be presenting at:
' 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, "The Nature of Biblical Faith in Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling"
' 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, "Faith and Reason in Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling"
' 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, "Faith and Reason in Philosophical Fragments"
Westphal received a bachelor's degree from Wheaton University where he graduated summa cum laude, master's degree from Yale University and a doctorate degree from Yale.
"My previous visits to Baylor have always been both enjoyable and rewarding. It is a place where I feel very much at home. I am looking forward eagerly to this visit in which I'll be giving three lectures, visiting two classes, and meeting with students at one tea," said Westphal.
All lectures will be held in the Foyer of Meditation in Armstrong Browning Library, 710 Speight Ave.
