Former Employee Named to Piano Guild Hall of Fame

August 15, 1996

Danny L. Boone, a former piano technician at Baylor University, was recently inducted into the National Piano Technicians Guild Hall of Fame at the national guild meeting in Dearborn, Mich.
He served as piano technician for 20 years before his death in 1994 and taught piano technician courses at Baylor. Boone also served as president of the Waco and Texas piano guilds, and he was regional vice president of the National Piano Technician Guild.
After publishing numerous piano technician articles, Boone wrote a book titled "Regulating Grand Piano: Touch and Tune." In 1994 he received the Piano Technician Guild Member of Note Award.
During his career, Boone also served Texas Baptist churches in Austin, Haskell, Bridgeport, Dallas, Mineola and Hewitt as minister of music.
"He was an example of an honest Texan. He was a man of integrity and honor whose influence was felt by all who came in contact with him," said Ben McKlveen, chair of awards committee for the Piano Technician Guild.
"He was an extraordinary person in addition to being a highly skilled professional," said Roger Keyes, professor of piano at Baylor and former chair of the piano division during Boone's career. "He brought more to his job at Baylor than just the physical demands of a technician."
Boone is survived by his wife Barbara and two children, Carole and Rebekah.
