Baylor Summer Programs Attract More Than 12,000 Visitors

WACO, Texas - Summer programs and camps at Baylor University this year attracted approximately 12,287 visitors to campus, bringing more than $1.1 million to the university, according to Jack Thornton, university host.
The 1996 figure represents an increase of more than 2,000 visitors over the 1995 total of 10,237 visitors, Thornton said.
"The summer went well this year. We had a lot of youth groups here, and this is a very good way for Baylor to present itself to potential students," Thornton said.
Programs included basketball, baseball, volleyball and tennis camps, band camps, debate camps and cheerleading camps. Several church-related groups also attended conferences at Baylor this year.
The summer began with a conference from the Baptist Student Ministries and ended with the Leadership Training Conference of the Woman's Missionary Union of Texas. Additional church-related conferences included the Texas Baptist Work Day Early Education Conference, the Church Music Conference and the Texas Baptist Conference for the Deaf.
