New Commander Appointed to Baylor Rotc

Lt. Col. Greg Smith has been named professor of aerospace studies and commander of the Baylor University ROTC.
Smith comes to Baylor from McGuire Air Force base in New Jersey where he served for five years as an operations officer. While at McGuire, Smith was in charge of training pilots and flight missions.
At Baylor, he will teach sophomore cadets Air Force history, leadership and communications training. The Baylor ROTC unit has approximately 120 cadets.
A native of Shreveport, La., Smith is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University.
Smith's assignment to Baylor came at his request, which he said he made because of the quality of the school and the ROTC unit.
"I was looking for a place with great students to work with and Baylor was my number one choice," Smith said. "This ROTC unit is doing a great job. My goal is to continue the tradition this unit has already established."
The Baylor ROTC is one of the oldest Air Force ROTC units in the country. It was started in 1948.
