Hanks Named Director of Graduate Studies in English

Dr. Thomas Hanks, professor of English at Baylor University, recently has been named director of graduate studies for the Department of English.
Hanks will be responsible for advising graduate students in the English department as well as developing recruitment efforts for top English graduate students. A goal Hanks said he would like to accomplish while graduate director is developing the electronic capabilities within the department such as using the World Wide Web and the Internet.
Along with his role as graduate director and professor of English, Hanks serves as coordinator of the World Cultures I section of Baylor's Interdisciplinary Core.
He joined the Baylor faculty in 1976. Earning bachelor's and master's degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Hanks earned a doctorate from the University of Minnesota. He has authored two books, "Sir Thomas Malory: Visions and Revisions" and "E.L. Konigsburg."
Hanks praised Dr. Clement Good, previous graduate director, saying "Clement has done a great job. If I can do as well as he did, I will be satisfied." The Baylor English department currently has 50 graduate students.
