Olympic Torch to Travel Through Baylor May 21

WACO, Texas - Baylor University will join in Waco's celebration of the Olympic Torch Relay beginning at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, as the torch enters the campus from University Parks Drive, travels around the intramural fields and through the heart of campus and eventually leaves Waco from an airplane taking off from University Parks Drive.
The torch will be carried down University Parks Drive past the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center by Lynn Cuny, who will hand off the torch at 7:22 a.m. to Emmett McCoy. McCoy will continue on University Parks Drive passing the torch to Rosario Piedra at 7:26 a.m.
Piedra will turn right on Bagby Avenue and carry the torch to South Third Street where she will pass the flame at 7:33 a.m. to Carlos Virgil.
Virgil will continue on Bagby Avenue to South Seventh Street where he will pass the torch to Anna Dick.
Turning right on Eighth Street, Dick will carry the torch in front of Waco Hall on the Baylor campus, across from Pat Neff Hall. She will continue to hold the torch as it passes Burleson Quadrangle on Fifth Street turning left on Dutton Avenue.
At 7:46 a.m., Dick will hand off the torch to Ralph Bender, who will carry it down Eighth Street. Bender will pass the torch to Jimmy Loya on Eighth Street in front of Ruth Collins Hall.
Loya will turn right on Speight Street where he will carry the torch to the next torchbearer off the Baylor campus.
At approximately 9 a.m., the torch will return to the Baylor area from LaSalle Avenue where it will depart Waco at the Ferrell Center on a biplane headed for Bryan. The plane will land on University Parks Drive and taxi across the front of the Ferrell Center.
Baylor supporters are encouraged to line the route on campus and celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay.
