Baptist Student Ministries Sets Leadership Camp May 20-23

WACO, Texas - Baylor University's Baptist Student Ministries will host 28 students and 10 directors from college campuses throughout Texas for the first-ever "Advanced Leadership Training Seminar" from May 20-23 at the Bobo Baptist Student Center on the Baylor campus.
Representing 19 colleges around the state, the students and directors will attend training sessions ranging from "Discovering Your Communication Style" and "Establishing Your Identity" to "Time Management" and "Planning Meetings with Integrity."
The leadership training seminar is being sponsored by the Texas Baptist Student Ministries.
"We hope the students will build confidence, better communication skills and better leadership capabilities," said Tom Ruane, state director for Baptist Student Ministries and one of the creators of the seminar.
Ruane worked with Clif Mouser, director of Baylor's Baptist Student Ministries, in developing the idea and program for the seminar. Mouser will lead one of the training sessions titled "Ministry of Leadership" set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22.
A five-part session "Discovering Your Communication Style" will be led by Brad Gray, consultant for the National Student Ministries.
Other speakers include Bruce McGowan with Texas Baptist Student Ministries, Dr. Bob Mayfield of Texas A&M University and Cheryl Gochis, coordinator of student leadership development in Baylor's student activities office.
