Baylor to Hold Spring Commencement May 11

Approximately 1,200 students will graduate during spring commencement exercises at Baylor University Saturday, May 11, at the Ferrell Special Events Center.
Commencement exercises for the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School Arts and Sciences programs will begin at 10 a.m. Commencement exercises for the schools of Business, Education, Music, Nursing, Engineering and Computer Sciences and the Graduate School professional programs will begin at 3 p.m.
The Collins Outstanding Professor Award will be presented to J. Randall O'Brien, associate professor of religion. The Collins Outstanding Professor is chosen annually by a senior class election, receives a $10,000 award and delivers an open lecture on the Baylor campus.
The Outstanding Professor and Teaching Awards will be presented to six faculty members.
The Baylor Alumni Association also will present two awards during the 3 p.m. commencement. The George W. Truett Distinguished Church Service Award will be presented to Dr. James H. Landes of Waco, and the Price Daniel Distinguished Public Service Award will be presented to Judge Sam D. Johnson of Austin.
