Two Baylor Students Receive Sheri Mooney Awards

April 26, 1996

Two Baylor University students recently received $700 cash grants funded by the Sheri Mooney Awards for demonstrating a consistent Christian lifestyle among their peers, and they will be honored at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, in Waco Hall during Chapel-Forum.
Jeffrey V. Domen, a Yorba Linda, Calif., junior, and Christi A. Cavin, a Mesquite sophomore, were selected to receive the awards for their testimony in faith by a committee headed by William Dube, dean for admissions, scholarships, and financial aid at Baylor. Funded by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mooney of Irving and Mrs. Tina Mooney Koemel of Fort Worth, the $700 award is given in memory of Sheri Mooney, a Baylor graduate who was killed in an automobile accident shortly after her graduation nine years ago while on a mission to encourage lifestyle evangelism.
The primary purpose of the award is to give peer recognition for selfless Christian witness. Recognition is given to the student and to the concept of lifestyle witness.
Over the past eight years, 16 students have received the award.
