Baylor University Women's Chorus Concert Set for April 16

The Baylor University Women's Chorus will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16. The concert, under the direction of Earlene Rentz, assistant professor of music education. will be in Roxy Grove Hall.
The accompanist for the 36-voice Women's Chorus is Alison Ribeiro Queiroz, a graduate student from Recife, Brazil.
A motet by Felix Mendelssohn, "Laudate Pueri Dominum," will open the program, and another work by that same composer, "Lift Thine Eyes to the Mountains" from the oratorio "Elijah," also will be sung.
The earliest piece on the concert will be "My Heart Is Offered Still to You" by the Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594). The baroque period will be represented by "Laudamus Te" from Antonio Vivaldi's "Gloria."
Among the early 20th-century composers on the program will be Ralph Vaughan Williams ("Bright Is the Ring of Words") and Zoltán Kodály ("Dancing-Song").
Leslie Bell's arrangement of the American folk song "Lollytoodum" will feature the talents of soprano soloist Jennifer Cheatham, a sophomore from Killeen.
Other works on this Women's Chorus concert will be "There Is Sweet Music Here" by John Clements, "The Nightingale" by Eugene Butler, "Psalm 100" by René Clausen, and J. David Moore's setting of "Music in My Mother's House" by Stuart Stotts.
