Regional History Fair Set for March 1

WACO, Texas - The 11th annual Heart of Texas Regional History Fair has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center at Baylor University. The fair was originally scheduled to be held Feb. 2 but was postponed due to the ice storm in early February.
Throughout the school year, students in grades 5-12 engage in research to prepare papers, projects, performances and media presentations based on the 1995-96 theme "Taking a Stand in History: Individuals, Groups, Movements."
The competition is divided into three divisions: 5th grade, junior (grades 6-8) and senior (grades 9-12). The 5th graders compete in individual or group project categories only, while the junior and senior divisions each compete in seven categories.
Students from the counties of Bell, Bosque, Brazos, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone, McLennan, Milam and Robertson are eligible to enter. Regional winners advance to Texas History Day in April in Austin, and possibly the National History Fair in June in Washington,
D. C.
Registration will be from 8-10 a.m. in the Barfield Drawing Room. Projects will be set up in the Barfield Drawing Room and judging of performances and media categories will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The awards ceremony will be held from 5-6 p.m. in Waco Hall.
