Steppin' Out Program Scheduled for Feb. 14

February 13, 1996

Linda Turner, executive director of the Waco Family YMCA, will speak as part of a Steppin' Out program during Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in Waco Hall on the campus of Baylor University.

Turner graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Psychology and received her master's degree at North Texas State University in Health and Fitness Management. She worked at the downtown Dallas YMCA and the Hartford, Conn. YMCA before coming to Waco.

Steppin' Out began in 1985, when then-student body president Ken Paxton had the idea to get the entire university involved in service projects to benefit the Waco community and bridge the gap between the community and Baylor. It has become one of the largest university service programs and has been used as a model to start similar programs nationwide. As many as 2,000 Baylor students participate in the project.
As part of the program, a video will be shown and students will have the opportunity at the end of the program to sign up for Steppin' Out.
