Baylor’s Andrea Dixon Named Regional Editor for Global Research PublicationFeb. 15, 2018
WACO, Texas (Feb. 15, 2018) – Andrea L. Dixon, Ph.D., executive director of Baylor University’s Center for Professional Selling and Frank and Floy Smith Holloway Endowed Professor in Marketing, was recently named the regional editor of the Americas for the European Journal of Marketing (EJM).
According to editor-in-chief Greg Marshall, Charles Harwood Professor of Marketing and Strategy at Rollins College and professor of marketing and strategy at Aston Business School, Dixon was selected for the position from a robust pool of prospects from around the world.
“Dr. Andrea Dixon was clearly the top candidate, and I’m absolutely delighted that she has agreed to serve,” said Marshall. “Based on my 15 years of experience editing the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management and later the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, I had the opportunity to experience first-hand Andrea’s expertise as a scholar, as she has been a key part of the successes of both of those journals.”
As regional editor for the Americas, Dixon will control the review process for submissions and will lead the charge to establish EJM as a journal of first choice for scholars in North and South America. Dixon will also play a key role in the strategic growth and development of the journal and serve as an ambassador in the Americas. Two additional regional editors manage the process for the Asia-Pacific and Europe regions.
“I am thrilled that Dr. Dixon has been chosen to serve as the Regional Editor,” said Terry Maness, Ph.D., dean of Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. “Andrea will provide excellent strategic leadership and managerial skills to this important position, and her selection acknowledges the international research reputation of our faculty.”
Truell Hyde, Ph.D., Baylor University’s vice provost for research, also applauded the impact Dixon and Baylor faculty continue to make across the globe.
“Dr. Dixon being named regional editor for the Americas for the European Journal of Marketing is one more example of how Baylor faculty continue to make an impact beyond the confines of the Baylor campus,” Hyde said.
In addition to her work with the EJM and Baylor’s Center for Professional Selling, Dixon also serves on the Editorial Review Boards for the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Business-to-Business Marketing and the Journal of the Marketing Education. She has served as a co-editor for special issues of Journal for the Advancement of Marketing Education (2016), Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing (2015), Journal of Marketing Education (2014) and Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management (2012), and she has edited the conference proceedings for the Global Sales Science Institute (2017, 2012) and the American Marketing Association (2007).
“Andrea will bring to bear a remarkable wheelhouse of scholarly experiences both as an author and reviewer, and her presence and level of respect within the broad field of marketing was exactly what we were looking for in this pivotal role,” Marshall said.
The European Journal of Marketing receives over 800 global submissions per year and publishes 12 issues per year. EJM registers around one million downloads per year and has seen a steady increase in its impact factor since 2008.
