I-35 Update: TxDOT to Close 5th Street, Northbound Frontage Road by Campus Next Week

WACO, Texas (July 9, 2021) - The Texas Department of Transportation plans to perform paving work in several areas along I-35 by the Baylor University. Please note the following closure dates and times:

Sunday night through Wednesday: 5th Street Crossing Under I-35

TxDOT will close eastbound 5th Street where it crosses under I-35 at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 11, and plan to reopen the roadway Wednesday afternoon, July 14. During this closure, drivers will be directed to the southbound I-35 frontage road where they can turn around at 18th Street.

Monday overnight: Northbound Exit for 5th/4th Street/University Parks Drive (335A) and Northbound Frontage Road from 8th Street to 4th Street

Crews also plan to close the northbound I-35 exit for 5th/4th Streets/University Parks Drive (Exit 335A) and the northbound I-35 frontage road from 17th Street to 4th Street on Monday, July 12, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Through traffic will be directed to the northbound I-35 entrance ramp north of 17th Street, and local traffic will be able to access side streets and businesses connecting to the northbound I-35 frontage road from 17th Street to 8th Street.

Tuesday overnight: Northbound I-35 Frontage Road from 4th Street to University Parks Drive

After that work is complete, crews will close the northbound I-35 frontage road from 4th Street to University Parks Drive on Tuesday, July 13, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving work. Drivers will be directed to Dutton Avenue and eastbound University Parks Drive.
