11th/12th Streets Bridge Removal Continues This Week

WACO, Texas (July 23, 2019) – Crews continue progress to remove the 11th/12th Streets bridge, an operation that is anticipated to continue to early August. Timelines for July 23, July 24-25 and July 27 are estimated based on work progress and field conditions, but please note that schedules may change as work progresses. Delays are expected to occur during this work.

• Please remember to slow down and watch for detour signs through this area.

• Lane closures to begin at 7 p.m. opening by 6 a.m.

• Sunday work hours allow for opening at 10 a.m. and closures beginning at 10 p.m.

• Additional lane closures and impacts to traffic may occur during this work as needed for safety.

Traffic Impacts

July 23, 2019

• The northbound mainlanes will be reduced to one lane from 18th Street to north of 12th Street.

• The northbound frontage road will be closed from near Park Avenue to north of 12th Street and through traffic will be directed onto the mainlanes at New Road.

• The exit ramp at 8th Street will be closed; drivers will need to exit at University Parks Drive.

July 24 & 25, 2019

• The northbound frontage road will be closed from near Park Avenue to north of 12th Street and through traffic will be directed onto the mainlanes at New Road.

• Local traffic may use the frontage up to Park Avenue.

• The exit ramp at 8th Street will be closed; drivers will need to exit at University Parks Drive.

July 27, 2019

• Beginning as early as Saturday, crews will begin removing the bridge beams and work is anticipated to last through the week.

• Work will begin on the northbound frontage road, then the mainlanes, finishing over the southbound frontage road.

• Full frontage road closures will be necessary during work over the frontage roads and all traffic will be diverted to the mainlanes.

• Full mainlane closures will be necessary during work over the mainlanes and all traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads.
