The Pre-McNair Academy provides eligible freshman, sophomore, and junior students a one-year introduction to the process of the McNair Scholars Program. Pre-McNair Academy students who participate in the required activities may be eligible for priority consideration to the McNair Scholars program once eligible, provided they meet the standards for admission.
The purpose of the Pre-McNair Academy is to:
1. Assist students in understanding the nature and purpose of graduate school, graduate school pathways, and how to prepare for graduate school, with a focus on exposing students to doctoral programs and empowering students to apply to graduate programs.
2. Expose students to various types of research and encourage students to engage in research with Baylor faculty.
3. Provide students with information about various research programs, including the McNair Scholars Program, so they are better prepared to apply to these programs.
