BONES: AN EXHIBIT INSIDE YOU™
CREATED BY THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF INDIANAPOLIS
COMES TO THE MAYBORN MUSEUM COMPLEX IN WACO
WACO, TEXAS, May 23, 2007 -- Have you ever wondered what keeps your body upright? Then come see Bones: An Exhibit Inside You™, an exciting exhibit from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis that will be on exhibition at the Mayborn Museum Complex in Waco from October 27, 2007 through February 17, 2008.
Bones helps create an awareness of the fundamentals of bone biology. Through a variety of exciting and interactive opportunities, find out how modern technology provides us with ways to keep our bones healthy and how bones have found their way into the art, music and literature of people around the world.
The Bones Adventure begins as visitors with a personal perspective; after all, we are all made of bones. The exhibition is intended to help both children and adults understand the need to have healthy bones. Important messages include keeping bones strong by eating a diet rich in calcium, and getting plenty of exercise.
Visitors are invited to participate in hands-on activity areas, such as in the HOME, FITNESS CENTER, MEDICAL CENTER and ZOO. Principles of bone biology and the role of bones in world culture are demonstrated throughout the exhibit. All text for the exhibit is in both Spanish and English.
Bones is a fun, comprehensive lesson about one of the most fundamental parts of our bodies. This fascinating exhibit increases our awareness of the aspects of bones while providing valuable information about careers in science. The interactivity and novelty of this exhibit will interest and entertain both adults and children.
"This exhibit will provide our visitors with great information in a very entertaining manner" says museum director Dr. Ellie Caston. "Bones: An Exhibit Inside You" will be our second traveling exhibit in 2007, a big step for the museum but one that provides our audience with even more reasons to come visit often."
Bones: An Exhibit Inside You™ is presented by Eli Lilly and Company and supported in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Research Resources.
