What is Mayborn Connect?
Mayborn Connect is real-time virtual link between your class and Mayborn staff ready to share the museum’s exhibits, collections, and demonstrations. It works well with traditional in-person classes, and it works just as well when students are meeting you virtually. You choose the program below that best supports your learners and curriculum, and the Mayborn’s educators will bring the bugs, bones, rocks, and rockets to share with your class. We will meet on the virtual platform of your choice.

What is a Mayborn Connect program like?
This virtual visit to the Mayborn is a two-way conversation that offers your class direct access to the museum like never before. Besides enjoying specimens and artifacts preserved in the Mayborn’s collection, students are invited to ask questions, contribute observations, and share their own specimens. For this trip, teachers will skip the buses, sack lunches, and permission slips, so they can enjoy the learning connections that their class creates.

How much does a Mayborn Connect program cost?
Each session is 50 minutes, including time for live Q&A with a Mayborn Educator. The cost for one class (up to 35 students) is $95 per class.

Mayborn Connect Live!
Coming to the museum for a field trip? Consider adding Mayborn Connect Live to your itinerary! This 50-minute live in-person program allows for your students to experience the entire museum while also giving them the opportunity to learn more about one chosen topic. When selecting this option we suggest a minimum of 3 hours at the museum.

Cost: $2 per student (+student admission to the museum)
Times Available: Monday – Friday at 10:00 am

To participate, registrants will be expected to
  • Have the equipment and authorization to host their own virtual meetings with students on Zoom, Google Meet, Go To Meeting, or similar.
  • Actively manage the meeting room by muting and un-muting students and removing any participant who disturbs the learning environment.
  • Invite the Mayborn speaker and evaluator as guests to the meeting.
  • Meet virtually with Mayborn staff prior to the program to coordinate logistics, details, and tips.
