  • Coffee events are free, do not require advanced registration, and you are welcome to invite a friend.
  • Online registration is available for luncheons one month prior to the event.

Bus Trip: Dinosaurs, Ferris Wheel, and More!

Friday, November 4, 2022
Cost: $75

Join the Special Events Team for an exciting day in the Dallas area. We will leave Waco at 8:00am from the Lee Lockwood Library at 2801 West Waco Drive and journey to The Dinosaur Company in Allen to see the largest animatronic dinosaurs in the United States. We will be divided into smaller groups to tour the manufacturing facility to see how the frames are built, how the controls work, how the skin is made and applied, and what the finished products look like. From there we will go to IKEA in Frisco for lunch from their outstanding cafeteria (each paying for his/her own choices) where Swedish meatballs and lingonberry tea are always favorites. There will also be time for browsing the wares of this enormous store. From IKEA, we will venture to the Colony to visit Scheels, one of the largest sporting goods stores in America. After entering the store through and underneath a Plexiglas aquarium, we will again be divided into smaller groups for a brief tour to help show you what all the store has to offer. Each section has a “hands-on” section such as a putting green in the golf area or a skeet-shooting booth in the hunting area. You will encounter animatronic football and baseball players, dozens of animals (safely stuffed), and we will even take a ride on their 65-foot Ferris wheel that is INSIDE the store! Of course, there is also a candy shop as well as a delightful café with a fudge bar and an ice bar for those who need a snack before boarding the bus. We will return to the Lee Lockwood Library between 5:00 and 6:00pm. Non-member guests (50 years old or more) of Lifelong Learners are also welcome to join you at a cost of $80.00.
Register HERE.
