Quotes From Some of Our Award Winners

Colby Shoults - Outstanding Senior in Math Ed

My time at Baylor did not begin in the mathematics department, but after encountering several incredible and supportive professors, I was encouraged to focus my education major on mathematics for middle grades. I am so grateful for the intentional work these professors put in every day to bring out the strongest students possible. They truly inspired my love for mathematics education. In the upcoming year, I will be traveling to Ghana to partner with other mathematics teachers and students to learn new methods and introduce ideas that I accumulated through my time at Baylor. I am so honored to have received this award and feel blessed to have the opportunity to share what I learned from this incredible department beyond our borders. Thank you!

Christina Ware - Outstanding Senior in Math Ed, McNair Scholar

My time at Baylor was successful due to the brilliant and patient math professors I had. My future plans include teaching 9th grade math at a Title 1 school in Charlotte, North Carolina as a Teach for America Corps member. After two years, I will pursue future opportunities in education policy and attend graduate school in a social science field. I am grateful for this award and will be placing it in my new classroom!

Nolan Craft - Beth Wilson Memorial Award

I am honored to have received the Beth Wilson Memorial Award. The math department and the professors within it have proven to be one of the greatest at Baylor, and I am thankful for how dedicated and caring they have been during my undergraduate career. Because of my experience at Baylor, I am moving on to pursue a doctorate in mathematical physics at Rice University.
