Project Statement

The project that has had the most impact on me has been my Soles for Souls identity design assignment. I have a passion for service so when the opportunity arose to create a non-profit company and design them how I saw best fit, I jumped at the chance. Over the last few years of my life, I have been given the opportunity to be a part of many service activities which has been one of the leading factors with my design choices. Junior year I was able to do an identity mark and stationery for my non-profit Soles for Souls. In senior year I was able to expand on this by creating a poster and a promotional mail out piece to further expand on the brand identity system.

With all design principles and elements in mind, I started out by thinking of things I am proud of and what I feel is important to highlight in this world. My solution was a company that raises money and provides missions to deliver boots to underprivileged communities. I looked online at other organizations with similar mission statements, and then used the information I found to help organize what I believed to be most vital to include in my project. The important factors of a non-profit are to serve, to raise money, and to be able to be a change for the world. By starting with research and then moving to sketches was one of the ways to develop my idea, then moving to illustrator to finalize my design. I decided to go along with the design element of a rain boot. This is because the mission of my non-profit is to provide new boots to underdeveloped countries. I believe that this embodies my non-profit because of the following mission statement: Soles for Souls exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities who desperately need new shoes to live a fulfilling life and to walk in the way of Jesus. I am so proud of this project because I feel that it evokes what I believe and the passions I have into one company and brand identity.
