Jennifer Cognard-Black

Jennifer Cognard-Black, Professor of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, is the 2020 Robert Foster Cherry Professor for Great Teaching at Baylor University. She teaches classes in creative nonfiction, the short story, women writers, Victorian novels, and the literatures of food. The author or co-editor of five books, her publications include an anthology of food writing, Books that Cook (2014), and a collection of essays on women and their machines, From Curlers to Chainsaws (2016). A former Fulbright Scholar to Amsterdam and Slovenia, Cognard-Black has recorded lecture series with The Great Courses and Audible, and she’s published her fiction and essays in journals from Story Magazine to Versal to So To Speak, among others.
