Thema is a fictitious skin care company that utilizes the healing powers of essential oils. Ancient Egypt is believed to have been the birthplace of essential oils. Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants or fruits, where the oils capture the scent and flavors. Each one of Thema’s products has its own unique essential oil infused within the product. Thema’s brand is to capture the traditional roots of essential oils and create natural skin care products for customers today.
Thema’s name is derived from the Egyptian meaning of Queen. Thema’s ideal clients is a woman, young to middle aged, who is focused on all-natural cosmetic products for their daily skin care routine. Thema’s logo is also inspired by Egyptian hieroglyphics, along with the handwritten rendered typeface. An enclosed circle on the logo, mimics the type manipulation created. A secondary san serif typeface is used to show hierarchy between the thick bold type virus the thinner type. The color palette, red and yellow, also reference Egypt. Red was considered to be a powerful color, while yellow designated the eternal and the indestructible. Two different shades of the colors are used to add diversity in the color palette.
There are three products designed for the Thema Skin Care Company; a face mask, a moisturizer and cleansing bar. Each of the packages has a hand-drawn inspired image of the essential oil sketched onto the box, letting the customer know what plant or fruit is in their products. It was important for the ingredients to look hand-drawn on the packages so that the consumer is reminded that these products are all-natural. The colors of the essential oils used in the products are displayed on each of the packages creating a bright contract to the white background. Thema is bringing traditional cosmetics back to the consumers today.
