Allison Chew earned an MFA in studio art from the University of Texas at Tyler and certification in Education and Outreach from the Texas Association of Museums. At the University of Texas at Tyler, she served as Assistant to the Gallery Director in the Meadows Gallery and was also an instructor for Drawing and Painting classes. In 2008, she began working at the Pearce Museum at Navarro College as the Curator for the museum’s art collection. She cared for the collection, developed temporary and traveling exhibits, created educational programs for the museum, and created and maintained a public brand and marketing strategy for the advancement of the facility. Promoted to Director of the Pearce, she oversaw day-to-day operations, fundraising and editing The War: Day by Day
," a published four volume book with a diary entry or letter for every day of the Civil War from the collection of the Pearce Museum archives.
She is also an active member Texas Association of Museums and Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Texas, a charitable family fraternity focused on service. Within the I.O.O.F., she serves as the Chairman of the Museum Planning Committee in Texas and oversees the development and organization of the historic collections.
