90th Anniversary

The Texas Collection becomes a nonagenarian this year! When Waco physician Kenneth Hazen Aynesworth donated his Texas history volumes to Baylor University 90 years ago, he had a vision for preserving and making available the materials that document Texas' past. His contributions also helped fund an instructor of Texas history, allowing Baylor to be the first university in the state to offer such a course. What began in 1923 as a collection focused on Texas history now encompasses topics including science, religion, art, education and politics, and has grown from 1,000 items to millions of books, manuscripts, photos, maps and more -- all related to Texas.
