WACO, Texas (Sept. 5, 2018) – The Baylor University Libraries invite you to attend the book launch of Reclaiming Joy, written by proud Baylor Bear Ella Wall Prichard on Friday, Sept. 14. The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the new Active Learning Lab in Moody Memorial Library.
During the event, Prichard will speak to the contents of her book, offering practical advice and spiritual encouragement for people seeking the strength to rebuild their lives. A book signing will follow.
"Reclaiming Joy is part memoir, part guide, part inspiration," said Prichard. "It captures the pain felt in the first years of widowhood in the move from grief to joy. It offers encouragement and advice to women who seek the strength to rebuild their lives and reclaim their joy."
Currently, Prichard is the president of Prichard Oil Company. She was married to Lev Prichard for 46 years, until his death in 2009. While learning the business and settling the estate in the midst of the Great Recession, she poured out her grief and anxiety on social media, planting the seeds of Reclaiming Joy. She is a frequent speaker on the subject of widowhood and has encouraged and supported widows across the nation. She continues to be involved in her community, church and many nonprofit organizations while keeping close ties with Baylor University Libraries.
“Ella and her late husband Lev have been ardent supporters of the Baylor Libraries," said John S. Wilson, interim dean of libraries. "We are proud to celebrate the release of this helpful guide to reclaiming joy and look forward to the impact it will make on those who are grieving.”
This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Baylor University Press, College of Arts and Sciences, George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor Law, the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, and the Department of Journalism, Public Relations, and New Media.
Books will be available for purchase at the event. For more information on Ella Prichard, visit www.ellawallprichard.com.
