On September 21, 1979, the W. R. Poage Legislative Library opened its doors to the public. Featuring a congressional research center and offices for the Baylor Graduate School, the new facility was the first of its kind to be associated with an institution of higher education that honors an individual for his service in the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the past 40 years, the W. R. Poage Legislative Library has greatly expanded its collections, built the Jack E. Hightower Book Vault, engaged the Baylor and Waco communities in civic involvement projects, and created a highly active Graduate Research Center.
In honor of the W. R. Poage Library's 40th year, everyone is welcome to an Open House on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Come and enjoy refreshments, tours, giveaways, and register to vote!
