The Baylor University Electronic Library offers standards-based IP based video conferencing services for over 70 different locations throughout the Waco and Dallas School of Nursing campuses. Standards-based systems are produced by companies like Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize, and many others. The facilities we offer include conference rooms that seat 8 to 15 people and campus classrooms that seat 20 to 350. We also offer audio conferencing in all locations with phone accessibility, and other conferencing services as listed below.
Video Conferencing DesignVideo conferencing presents unique challenges to designing an effective space. CTS coordinates design for videoconferencing, including experienced professionals from both on and off campus. The following design services for video conferencing are available from CTS:

TrainingCTS offers training for both first-time users and those who have used the equipment before. The training occurs either before the actual event or just minutes prior to the event, depending on the users preference. The user receives basic training on video and/or audio controls, as well as tips on how to make the video or audio conference more successful.
SupportCTS offers varying levels of support for your video or audio conference, based on specifc needs and requirements. Video conferences which require multi-point connections, recording, or other advanced uses will likely require enhanced support by our team. All users receive information on how to contact immediate support personnel in the event any problems arise. Accessible through the Canvas learning management system, Cisco WebEx offers synchronous web-based conferencing environments. Additional features include two-way audio and video, text chat, application and desktop sharing, and session recording. WebEx meetings can also be connected to any SIP enabled traditional video conferencing-equipped rooms, including any of our 70+ conference and classroom spaces on Baylor campuses. WebEx may be used by faculty and staff to conduct meetings, give presentations, or host online webinars. If you are using WebEx for a videoconference you will need a webcam, speakers/headphones, and a good internet connection. For more information, please click here.
Video Conference Bridging for Multi-Participant Connections
Baylor's video conferencing bridge (MCU) can currently accommodate up to 24 simultaneous video connections. The bridge is available on a first come, first serve basis and reservations are required to use the bridging service. Reservations should be made at least 5 business days in advance of your scheduled connection. Should you require a connection which involves more than two participants, please complete the Video/Audio Conferencing Request Form and be sure to indicate you need multi-participant services on the form.
Video Conference Recording
Video conferences can be recorded upon request, provided sufficient notice is given and a room and/or equipment is available. You must submit your request at least 5 business days prior to your scheduled connection. Recording is available on a first come, first serve basis and you must complete the Video/Audio Conferencing Request Form and be sure to indicate you need recording services on the form.
Classroom Technology Services offers Skype support on a very limited basis. We can assist by providing users with a webcam. Webcams are available on a first come first serve basis. Please note: Skype is available to all users on the Baylor network, and a pool of bandwidth has been set aside for its use, as well as other P2P applications. As you can imagine, this pool fills up very fast with the potential of hundreds or even thousands of users at any given time. Unfortunately, due to the inability of the Skype software to differentiate users, we cannot guarantee bandwidth and/or service. If you are interested in better quality service, we recommend our standards-based video conferencing services, as mentioned above. If your remote participant does not have access to one of these standards-based systems, we offer WebEx as an alternative, also mentioned above.
CTS also offers teleconferencing services to users on campus. We have conferencing phones available and can host conference calls to multiple parties. To request audio conferencing services, please complete the Video/Audio Conferencing Request Form.
