Additional Information

The Central Libraries house the divisions of Library Collections Services, Research & Engagement, and Library and Academic Technology Services

The Library Collections Service (LCS) division serves the University Libraries with collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, and interlibrary loan services. The librarians and staff in LCS engage collaboratively with campus in the selection of new resources, efficiently deliver and manage resources, and describe and arrange library materials to facilitate discovery and strike inspiration.

The Research & Engagement (R&E) division includes public services, the liaison librarian program, instruction and information literacy, data and digital scholarship, and the special collections of the central libraries. R&E provides research assistance, instruction, and circulation of materials to the university community. The team of liaison librarians engages with faculty and students in departments across campus to provide specialized subject assistance to meet their information and research needs and to teach students to become effective researchers. The data and digital scholarship program includes training on research data management, data visualization, text data mining and geospatial analysis.

The Library and Academic Technology services division reflects a merger of academic technology and library technology, consisting of Classroom Technology Services; copyright services; Digital Preservation Services; Learning Spaces and Media Services; Library Systems; Online Teaching and Learning Services; and scholarly communication services.

The Central Libraries Special Collections holds unique materials such as the Heritage Edition of the Saint John’s Bible, the Books Arts Collection, a first edition of Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, and much more!
