In support of this mission, we have created a space that we are calling The Incubator, which is located in Moody Library, Room 104. The Incubator is a space to try new ideas and explore demand for particular types of space before making larger investments. Our goal is to explore the needs of two overlapping constituencies: graduate students and faculty researchers.
These groups have expressed needs for spaces in which to study quietly alongside their graduate peers, to meet with each other, and maybe even cross disciplinary boundaries. The Incubator also gives us a new home for recent partnerships with the Graduate School, including the Graduate Writing Center, the annual dissertation boot camp, and the Libraries' popular annual reception and "speed geeking" event for graduate students. We plan to use the space to expand programs offered with graduate students in mind.
The Incubator is provided as a one year pilot. We will constantly examine our usage data and solicit suggestions, improving the utility of the space as we go along and/or incorporating identified needs into our long-term space planning.
