Concept Mapping

Concept mapping, a form of active learning, gives learners an opportunity to visualize relationships between concepts. Concept maps can be developed in written or in digital form by organizing concepts or topics hierarchically with the most general concepts at the top followed by more specific concepts. Relationships between concepts are typically represented with a link, such as a line, with a label or short phrase to explain the relationship.

Recommendation

Have students create concept/mind maps reflecting their early understanding of course concepts. Throughout the term, have them revisit their maps and edit them based on their new understanding of course concepts.
