Steppin' In Challenge Participation 2020

Steppin' In 2020

On April 18th, the entire Baylor family will participate in various "Serve Where You Are" initiatives around the country.  Those who take the Steppin' In Challenge will participate individually or as a family in at-home service activities to positively impact their neighbors and greater community.

In response to the call in 1 Peter that we, as faithful stewards of God's grace, use our gifts to serve others we believe that Baylor students, employees, and alumni around the world have special gifts and encouragement to offer their communities at this time.  By rallying together to serve others on this special day, our hope is that a commitment to caring for one another would be sustained as we continue to face this new season as a strong Baylor Family.

If participating in this challenge, adhere to all Shelter in Place orders, observe local and CDC COVID-19 guidelines, and practice social/physical distancing.  We also ask that you refrain from baking/cooking and delivering food (use a food delivery service instead).

How to Participate

Steppin' In is designed to be an accessible opportunity for everyone! In fact, the entire Baylor family from students, to alumni, to employees, to friends, is encouraged to participate!  Get started by looking through the list of projects below.  Click the "sign up" link to indicate your interest in getting involved and please share all activity in photos and videos tagged with #BUSteppinIn or email photos (CES@baylor.edu) on that day so that we can follow along with you!

Philanthropic Projects

  • Play Freerice, an ad-supported, free-to-play website that allows players to donate rice to families in need
  • Make face masks for yourself and your family using materials at home.  If officials in your area have requested donations of masks, contact the agency in charge for information about contact-free drop-off.

Other Projects

  • Have your own idea for a project?  We love to see creativity!  For all projects please remember to
    • adhere to your area's Shelter in Place order
    • follow social/physical distancing practices
    • comply with all local/federal COVID-19 guidelines
    • select a project that can be done using resources/materials in your home (i.e., avoid trips to the store, post office, etc.)
    • arrange for contactless drop-offs if donating to others

You can serve according to your own schedule and in whatever capacity you are able on April 18th. You can even combine projects. Begin planning your activity a few days out so that you can ensure any online registration is complete before April 18th!

Want more information about the projects?  Click the image on the right of this page to visit our "Serve Where You Are" site to gain inspiration and recommendations for ways that you can participate!  We also encourage you to think of other ways you may use your own gifts to serve your community while adhering to health and safety recommendations at this time. We cannot wait to see all of the creative ways that our students, alumni, faculty, and staff find to "fling their green and gold afar" by serving around the world this Spring!

And remember! Post about your experience using #BUSteppinIn so that we can all share this special day together!
