Monica Wright, Office Manager for Baylor Law School's Career Development Office (CDO), is recipient of Baylor University's Outstanding Staff Award. She received the award from Baylor President Ken Starr in a ceremony Thursday, Jan. 27, at Waco Hall.
The Outstanding Staff Award recognizes staff members nominated by university faculty and staff for having done an exceptional job over the past year. Selections are based on the following criteria: exceptional achievements within the respective job assignment; support in fulfilling the university's mission; and contributions through service at Baylor, in the local community and in church. Nominees must have been employed at the university for at least three years.
"Monica is tireless in her work in the CDO and for 12 years has unfailingly applied her talents and energy to always doing, at every opportunity, whatever is best for Baylor Law School and our students. She is a treasure for me and all of us," said Baylor Law Dean Brad Toben.
Wright has worked for Baylor University since April 1997, first as administrative associate for Baylor Law Professor David Guinn and then as administrative assistant for personnel services. She joined the Law School's CDO in May 2001. As office manager, she handles the logistics of Baylor Law's on-campus interview programs, off-campus job fairs, job postings and reciprocity requests. She assists the students and the director of CDO by providing administrative support and responds to students, prospective students, alumni and employer inquiries about the services and programs of the CDO.
Wright is a native of Waco. Her husband of 30 years, Danny, daughter Natalie and son-in-law Travis are all Baylor graduates. She is a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Wright served on Baylor Staff Council from 1997-1999 and has been a member of the Bear Foundation since 2004. She is a season-ticket holder for football, men's and women's basketball and baseball and was recognized in 2010 as Lady Bear Basketball Season Ticket Holder of the Week.
