Baylor Law School literally rolled up its collective sleeves in order to save lives. At the school's recent Immunity Day, students participated in a blood drive for Carter BloodCare and almost doubled the amount of participants from a blood drive held in the fall.

Finalists in Baylor Law School's annual intramural Strasburger & Price, L.L.P. Spring Moot Court Competition demonstrated their courtroom skills before a large audience Monday afternoon at the James Kronzer Appellate Advocacy Courtroom.

Teams from Baylor Law School captured both first and second place at the National Trial Competition finals on March 24 in Austin. In the final round, the team of Mark Walraven and Steven Lopez defeated Joel Towner and Chaille Graft Walraven.

Matt "Mad Dog" Dawson, legendary trial lawyer and former director of Baylor Law's famed Practice Court Program, turned 96 on Tuesday, March 20. Baylor Law Dean Brad Toben and a contingent of law school faculty celebrated Dawson's birthday at his home at the Overlook in Waco.

A Baylor Law team won the regional championship of the American Bar Association's annual National Appellate Advocacy Competition in early March in San Francisco and will head to the national championship in April in Chicago.

It was Baylor Law vs. Baylor Law in the finals of the American Association for Justice regional Student Advocacy Competition, and when it was over, the team of Ben Yelverton, Akilah Craig, George Cowden and Justin Fowles prevailed, but just barely, over the team of Michael Bristow, Leah Maxwell, Stephen Netherton and Blayne Thompson.

Gov. Rick Perry has named Baylor Law alumnus Ruben Reyes of Lubbock chair and appointed eight members to the Governor's Criminal Justice Advisory Council for terms to expire at the pleasure of the governor.

A team from Baylor Law School took home the prestigious Elliott Cup the last weekend in February. Morgan Harkins, Hunter Oliver and Matt Greenberg won the competition with Harkins also being named runner up for Best Speaker.
