Leonard E. Davis, chief judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, has been named the 2012 Baylor Lawyer of the Year. A committee of the Baylor Law Alumni Association recently selected Davis, a long-time friend of Baylor Law School, for the honor.
According to a survey of litigators conducted by The American Lawyer, Baylor Lawyer, the Hon. James Rodney Gilstrap of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, has been selected as one of 10 Federal Judges to Watch.
The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers' Law Student Assistance Committee is hosting another Swearing-In Ceremony, open to all law students who have recently passed the Texas bar exam. Families of the newly licensed attorneys are also encouraged to attend. Judge Martin Hoffman of the 68th Civil District Court, Dallas County, has graciously agreed to conduct the ceremony.
The Denton County Young Lawyers Association invites all November 2012 licensees of the Texas Bar Association who are interested in practicing law in the Denton County area to participate in a local Swearing in Ceremony.
