Baylor Law School mourns the loss of Dean Emeritus Angus McSwain, who died suddenly Sunday, May 29, in Waco. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Austin Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chris Mesa of Austin Ave. UMC and the Rev. Tom Robbins of First United Methodist Church, Temple, officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, p.m. at Wilkerson Hatch Funeral Home.

Bridget Fuselier, associate professor at Baylor Law School, was recognized as the University Outstanding Professor (Untenured/Research) during commencement exercises on May 14. Baylor awards one non-tenured (tenure track) research award from all schools of the university.

Baylor University President Ken Starr was among two former U.S. Solicitors General who assisted the Liberty Institute today in presenting oral arguments before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in one of the nation's most important cases involving free speech. Known nationwide as the "candy cane" case, the outcome of Morgan v. Plano Independent School District will likely determine whether elementary school children have First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution.

Baylor Law Professors Jeremy Counseller, Luke Meier, and Rory Ryan organized and then joined a group of law professors as amici curiae in a recent Fifth Circuit case. Professor Ryan served as lead counsel in drafting the brief in support of rehearing en banc.
