Two Baylor Law School faculty members received outstanding professor awards from Baylor University during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 16. Rory Ryan and Jim Underwood, both associate professors, were recognized as the University Outstanding Professor (Untenured/Research) and the Outstanding Professor (Untenured/Teaching), respectively. Each received a citation and a $2,500 cash award.
The fourth edition of an evidence book termed the "best courtroom handbook on Texas Evidence out there" has been released. Baylor Law School professor Gerald Powell and the Honorable Ed Kinkeade, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas, teamed up on the new version of A Practical Guide to Texas Evidence: Objections, Responses, Rules, and Practice Commentary, which is published by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
For the 12th time since 2001, Baylor Law School students claimed the top pass rate on the Texas State Bar Exam with 97.06 percent success rate, the highest pass rate for students from the nine Texas law schools. Of the 34 Baylor students who took the three-day exam in February, 33 passed on their first try.
